Mindbender Theater Altenate Cover

As noted earlier Hasbro is strict with the images available for the books published under the Amazon Kindle Worlds licensing agreement. Unfortunately this means Mindbender Theater can only be downloaded with the approved cover, seen to the right. But that won't stop me from creating multiple covers for my GI Joe fan-fiction novels, and displaying them on brainoutloud.

Sci-Fi and Mainframe unexpectedly encounter Cobra in a treasured Hollywood landmark. The mad scientist, Dr. Mindbender has a sinister plan, an army of Cobra Vipers and a deadly surprise. A destructive battle begins in downtown Hollywood and continues on the highway to Burbank in a daring free-for-all at top speed. Meanwhile, reinforcements Wet-Suit and Leatherneck are on the way when a Cobra Night Raven targets the GI Joe Goliath C130. Fortunately, Slip Stream was escorting the air transport in his Conquest X-30 and engages the Night Raven in an exhilarating dogfight, but the Strato-Viper is far more capable than he imagined. Mindbender Theater is a pulse-pounding thrill ride from start to finish, with the fate of the world at stake and collateral damage around every corner. Will GI Joe make it to Burbank in time to thwart the sinister Cobra scheme?

A small sample from Mindbender Theater

“The connection will be complete in two minutes,” Mainframe checked his calculator wristwatch.
Sci-Fi and Mainframe stood at the corner of the building. The access ladder to the roof was about twenty feet away, unreachable without alerting the Cobra soldiers. It wasn’t a challenging shot for Sci-Fi, but with one of the Lithium Ion batteries missing from his pack, the perpetual recharging system was inoperative. Limiting the powerful weapon to a brief use.
Sci-Fi lowered his helmet’s black visor and took aim. Motionless, he watched through the scope. The Motor-Viper had removed his helmet to drink from a bottle of water. He waited until the Motor-Viper put the bottle down. In a fraction of a second, an intensified high-power beam of light burned clean through the skull of the Cobra Stun driver. Without the impact of a bullet, the body didn’t even budge. Sci-Fi quickly adjusted his aim to the Cobra Viper, who stood vigilant beside a Stinger Jeep. He centered the helmet and fired. The Cobra Viper slumped back, sliding down the side of the Stinger Jeep, collapsing onto the pavement. Mainframe quickly ran down the alley and scaled the ladder.

“The connection failed Dr. Mindbender,” the Tele-Viper was confused.
“What!” Dr. Mindbender grabbed the Tele-Viper by his quilted purple vest, demanding an explanation.
“I’m not sure what happened,” the Tele-Viper muttered. “We were at 98 percent. It. It just stopped.”
“Get it started again you incompetent imbecile,” Dr. Mindbender ordered.
The Tele-Viper frantically typed away on the Brainwave Screen console, “I can’t get a connection.”
One of the Cobra Viper’s was shocked as he glanced through the small projection room window, “The theater is full of smoke!”

While Mainframe was activating the cobbled-together signal jammer on the roof, Sci-Fi was coordinating with the LAPD SWAT. The SWAT team carefully pried the fire escape door, on the theater’s left wall, open. When Aaron Beck saw the sliver of light he barred the doors of the theater and popped a smoke canister, that had been confiscated from a Cobra Viper. Beck took charge of the panicking crowd and directed them to the open fire escape and into the street. Despite his instructions, some patrons evacuated through the fire escape on the right wall of the theater, pouring out into the alley near the Cobra vehicles and warm bodies. As he pushed his way through the escaping crowd Sci-Fi warned them that the alley is dangerous, attempting to redirect the frightened crowd.
“You three, get down there,” Dr. Mindbender ordered the Cobra Vipers. “Techno-Viper, activate our special cargo... We have visitors.”
A moment later, the three Cobra Vipers pounded on the solid wood doors of the theater. “Get these people outta here,” Sci-Fi yelled at Aaron Beck, who was ushering the remaining crowd to safety. “I’ll stop em’ from breaking that door down!” He took cover among the seats on the right of the theater.

Mainframe climbed back down and collided with a costumed fan, tumbling to the ground. The confiscated Cobra assault rifle knocked from his shoulder. Several feet away, the Techno-Viper barged through the fire escape, from the restroom hallway. The metal door banging against the concrete building. Mainframe grasped for the assault rifle, as the costumed fan struggles to get to his feet. Seeing two dead Cobra troops and what looked like two prone GI Joe members,  the Techno-Viper triumphantly rose his silver weapon, with its odd trapezoidal muzzle. Mainframe pulled the trigger, but nothing happened. The Techno-Viper took aim. Spinning his back toward the Techno-Viper, Mainframe shielded the fan. He closed his eyes and waited for oblivion. Three shots rang out in rapid succession.
