A sequal to the greatest game ever?

I have played big budget, studio developed hits like Titanfall and Batman Arkham Knight as well as smaller independently developed games, such as the episodic Walking Dead series from Telltale, and have thoroughly enjoyed them. However, I always return to Grand Theft Auto 5. GTA 5 is a fun open world, anything goes, free for all that is completely addictive. It's not just me that's unable to put the game down, GTA 5 has consistently remained in the top 10 worldwide best sellers list despite being two and half years old.

The game visual are gorgeous, the soundtrack is a classic, and the single player story mode is thrilling, but the chaotic online play is what gives GTA 5 it's unprecedented longevity. Rockstar, the developers of GTA 5, keep the online play fresh by routinely updating the game with new items, cars, weapons and even modes of gameplay. Even with all it offers and my addiction, it appears that I may finally stop playing GTA 5 as rumors are growing about a squeal to another one of Rockstar's hits.

Video game news website, Fraghero.com is citing a 3-month-old thread from Reddit where a Rockstar employee answered "Really? Dumbass Really? Two?" when asked what game was being developed next. A keen observer noticed the answer could be hinting at RDR2 or Red Dead Redemption 2. More recently Fraghero.com claims to have received an email with the rumored games full title "Red Dead Redemption 2 Legends of the West" and that an announcement is forthcoming at this year's E3 conference in June. The report states that Fraghero.com can not be verify the rumor. However Strauss Zelnick, the CEO of RockStar's parent company Take Two, seemingly did confirm the sequel in an interview.

"I pretty much know the ones that I can assure you are permanent. It’s obvious that GTA is a permanent franchise as long as we keep delivering this incredible quality; it seems quite obvious that Red Dead is a permanent franchise, again with the same caveat, or Borderlands, for example, and NBA and others"

Rockstar is known for developing great games and not over saturating the market with frequent releases by milking their franchises. This makes logical sense when considering their last game GTA 5 is still a top seller. It is a bittersweet method, though. On one hand we have to wait years between releases, on the other hand, you can be confident that you're getting a great product. So here's to hoping that the rumors are true and RDR2 is on the way, sooner rather than later.

Even though GTA5 is regularly updated, Rockstar never released a second, single-player story-mode. Grand Theft Auto 4 had two add-on episodes The Lost and the Damned and The Ballad of Gay Tony. Red Dead Redemption had only one expansion pack, but it's arguably the best add-on to any game, ever. Red Dead Redemption Undead Nightmare was an amazingly well done, exciting and sometimes scary, zombie apocalypse set in the wild west. After I beat the Undead Nightmare a number of times I anxiously awaited another expansion pack, but none ever came. I had ideas for new stories that could be told in the open world of Red Dead Redemption and put together a few images. They have been on my DeviantArt page for years, I guess I hoped someone from Rockstar would see them and think it was a good idea. Sadly that never happened so I'll share them here for everyone to see.

I was reading Lovecraft at the time

My personal favorite. Dinosaurs making the Wild West even more wild.

This expansion would have been about time-travelers attempting to alter history with giant robots.
